American Dietetic Association Names 2008-2009 Board of Directors

CHICAGO — Eighteen national leaders in nutrition, medicine, industry and public health will serve as the 2008-09 Board of Directors of the American Dietetic Association, the nation’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. The Board is responsible for strategic planning, policy development and fiscal management for the Association.
Members of ADA’s 2008-2009 Board of Directors will serve from June 1 to May 31, 2009. They are:
- Martin M. Yadrick, MS, MBA, RD, FADA, Los Angeles, Calif.; President.
Yadrick is director of nutrition informatics for Computrition Inc., a provider of integrated software solutions for the health-care and hospitality industries. - Ethan A. Bergman, PhD, RD, FADA, Ellensburg, Wash.; Speaker-Elect, House of Delegates.
Bergman is associate dean in the College of Education and Professional Studies and professor of food science and human nutrition at Central Washington University. - Christina K. Biesemeier, MS, RD, LDN, FADA, Franklin, Tenn.; Director-at-Large.
Biesemeier is manager of the clinical nutrition department at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. - Evelyn F. Crayton, EdD, RD, LD, Auburn, Ala.; House of Delegates Director.
Crayton is an extension assistant director in the Alabama Cooperative Extension System and a professor in the College of Human Sciences’ department of nutrition and food science at Auburn University. - Connie B. Diekman, MEd, RD, LD, FADA, St. Louis, Mo.; Past-President.
Diekman is director of university nutrition at Washington University in St. Louis. - Larry K. Ellingson, MBA, RPh, Fountain Hills, Ariz.; Public Member.
Ellingson is chairman of the board of Protemix Corporation, a company that develops therapies for prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other metabolic disorders and their complications. - Susan C. Finn, PhD, RD, FADA, Columbus, Ohio; Chair, ADA Foundation.
Finn is president and chief executive officer of the American Council for Fitness & Nutrition and director of industry communications and research in the department of nutrition at The Ohio State University. - M. Patricia Fuhrman, MS, RD, LD, FADA, CNSD, Ballwin, Mo.; House of Delegates Director.
Fuhrman’s experience in clinical dietetics includes strategic manager for nutrition services at Coram Inc.; clinical director of nutrition support at St. Louis University Hospital and chair of dietetics at Jewish Hospital College of Nursing and Allied Health in St. Louis. - Constance J. Geiger, PhD, RD, CD, Fort Bridger, Wyo.; Director-at-Large.
Geiger is president of Geiger & Associates, a food labeling, health communications and government affairs consulting firm, and a research associate professor at the University of Utah. - Joyce A. Gilbert, PhD, RD, LD, Silver Springs, Fla.; Treasurer.
Gilbert is owner and president of J. A. Gilbert Associates, a food management consultancy specializing in operational efficiencies, regulatory compliance and food safety in the food and health-care industries. - Rita Storey Grandgenett, MS, RD, Battle Creek, Mich.; House of Delegates Director.
Grandgenett is a nutrition consultant with RD Associates of Michigan LLC. - Kathleen W. McClusky, MS, RD, FADA, Winter Springs, Fla.; Treasurer-Elect.
McClusky is a patient services consultant for Morrison Management Specialists. - Ronald S. Moen, MS, Chicago, Ill.; ADA Chief Executive Officer.
Moen manages ADA’s headquarters operations in Chicago and in Washington, DC, directing the Association’s extensive national and international initiatives in public policy, consumer affairs and research. - Kenneth P. Moritsugu, MD, MPH, FACPM; RADM, USPHS (Ret), Washington, D.C.; Public Member.
Moritsugu is vice president for global strategic affairs (diabetes) at Johnson & Johnson and chairman of the Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Institute. He served as Acting U.S. Surgeon General from July 2006 until September 2007. - Christine M. Palumbo, MBA, RD, Naperville, Ill.; Director-at-Large.
Palumbo is a nutrition communications consultant and adjunct faculty member at Benedictine University. - Jessie M. Pavlinac, MS, RD, CSR, LD, Portland, Ore.; President-Elect.
Pavlinac is director of clinical nutrition and patient services at Oregon Health & Science University Hospitals & Clinics and senior instructor at OHSU’s School of Medicine. - Marsha K. Schofield, MS, RD, LD, Stow, Ohio; Speaker, House of Delegates.
Schofield is a supervisor with the Summit County Health District. - Jody L. Vogelzang, PhD, RD, FADA, CHES, Argyle, Texas; House of Delegates Director.
Vogelzang is an educator at Liberty Christian School, an adjunct assistant professor at Texas Woman’s University and president of Collaborative Health Solutions.
